STRIKE NOTICE

Dear Resident:

Thank you for your ongoing patience during the Village construction project adjacent to your home. At this time, the Village has been notified that Chicagoland Construction Labor Unions are going on strike. The conflict is between the Contracting Companies and the Unions, not involving the Village.

Work has therefore been temporarily shut down on your street. We are insuring that all construction sites are safe to the general public and will continue to actively monitor each site.

If any issues arise, or if you should have any questions, please contact the Village Project Manager or the Capital Projects Department at (847) 998-9500.

As of today, we do not have any information on how long this strike could last. We will inform you when this issue is resolved and work will resume.

Thank you again for your patience while this matter is resolved.
Road preparation is underway. Due to the less-than-ideal existing base, we have provisions to add additional stone under the asphalt road. The road will consist of 8.5" of asphalt, 4" of smaller stones and 12" of a large stone base. This method will help create a better and longer lasting roadway!

Main line storm sewer on Indian will be completed today; the storm on Beverly will be started today or Monday, west of Indian. Storm services south of Beverly are completed. Services and laterals (smaller pipe from the mainline to the structures on the edge of the road) north of Beverly are ongoing. Beverly pavement is being removed today.

NICOR will be onsite for the next several days lowering the gas services that are in conflict with our road subbase.

The road prep will begin next week. The new road will consist of 4” of a stone subbase, topped with 8.5” of asphalt.

Storm sewer installation is not quite yet complete from Glenview Road to Beverly; once that is complete it will continue north to Wilmette. The contractor is currently installing the main line, and will come back and install services once the mainline is completed.

NICOR Work

Residents might notice NICOR trucks along Indian in the next week or two. The existing services are only about a foot under the pavement, and due to the need to put a strong stone base under the new road, several services need to be lowered. This work is outside our construction contract, but if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact any one of us.

Sanitary sewer installation continues north on Indian. A correction from the last post: the pavement removal of the east side of Beverly has not yet been scheduled. When the sanitary sewer is complete, the contractor will be starting on the storm sewer at Glenview Rd and work north.

The pavement removal has been completed the entire project length on Indian and the west side of Beverly. The east side of Beverly will be removed early next week. Sanitary sewer main-line installation and service replacement continues north on Indian.
